This park features a pond that Mandy wasted no time going in it to cool off. After that, she was ready for the 3.5 mile hike on some very nice trails. There are two separate hikes that we tackled. The first, was the "Cotton Mill Trail" and was a fun rocky loop that went through the nature preserve property. The other trail was the park trail, which was wide and easy. It's one of those "story-book" trails for kids, where there are pages of a children's book on signs located along the trail.

This was a super muggy day. It was so muggy, that I had problems with my camera. It's not uncommon for the lens to get fogged up, but the inside of the lens was fogged up, so I couldn't even clean it. That is why some of the pictures below were taken on my iPhone. Even though it was muggy, it was much cooler here than the Hartford area. It was only about 81 degrees and breezy. Unfortunately, this wasn't the best park. There isn't much access to the river. There's a paved walking trail, as well as a wide dirt road, and that's about it.

This is a 1.5 mile stone dust surfaced, easy loop trail through the woods and a meadow. The meadow areas this time of year feature many wild flowers. About a half mile in, there is an area with outdoor exercise equipment. It's a popular area for dog walkers.

East Greenwich drew the short straw when it comes to waterfront access. Only a small bit of the town borders the bay along the west side of Greenwich cove. The cove is a narrow strip of water with Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick along east side of the cove. For some reason, the peninsula with the state park is part of Warwick, but not connected to the rest of Warwick by land. East Greenwich is in between the two disconnected sections of Warwick. Along with Scalloptown Park, the Cove Overlook provides access to the East Greenwich shore. There is a picnic area behind the parking lot, overlooking the cove. There is a staircase that goes down to the shore, with some docks. There is a trail that runs between the cove and a transfer station, that leads to Barbara M Tufts playground. We also walked a short way up London Street, along side the cove where there are some private marinas and businesses.

This is a typical New England Main Street. There are plenty of shops and restaurants here, as well as a historic armory, the Town Hall and even a small concert venue.
