We parked at the park near the town hall, and headed across Main Street to the dirt path Google Maps labled East Dike Walk. We created a loop by taking another dirt road back to Main Street and walking through town. Hatfield has that classic small town vibe going for it. We walked past some museums, churches, barns and the community garden. The entire route was just under two and a half miles.

East Dike Walk

This is a public easement through farmland, that starts across the street from the Town Hall. There are poop bag dispensers throughout, as well as signs reminding you that you are passing through private property. One sign reminds you to keep your dogs on a leash because the cows are scared of dogs. The path runs on top of a dike, built to protect the farm land from flooding. There are a few spots along the way that offer a nice view of the Connecticut River, but what you will see mostly is farmland. After about a mile, we took another dirt road back to Main Street and completed our loop by walking through the town.
