Marconi Beach

Date visited: 7/14/2024

This is a wonderful dog friendly beach, part of the Cape Cod National Shoreline. There's a large parking area, that supposedly never fills up, but it was about 90% full when we arrived around 1PM. It cost $25 for a day pass, and dogs are allowed, even in the summer season. They are allowed in areas of the beach that aren't guarded. They are not allowed in any area explicitly closed for migrating birds. The good news, is the guarded section is small, right by the entrance, and you are allowed to pass through the guarded area with your dogs to get to the non-guarded area. We started heading north, but there was a section closed off to dogs, so we headed south instead. As I mentioned, the guarded area was small, so the general beach population spread out a bit past the guarded area. The beach was long enough that we were still able to find quiet sections. The best part was where the seals were hanging out just off-shore. I've never seen seals in the wild before. We continued down the beach, and actually wound up crossing town lines into Eastham, before turning around and heading back. We don't usually get to visit the touristy beaches in the summer, so this was different. While people watching can be fun on the beach, I did like the quiet sections more, especially the area with the seals!
